The Greek Ambassador in Vienna, Dimitris Themistoklis, helped kick off an event highlighting the Greek islands as a lure for tourists. The event included the islands of Cyclades-Sifnos, Milos, Paros and Ios and was held in the historic building of the Greek embassy in Vienna.
During the event, which was organized by the Austrian office of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO,” Themistoklis praised the natural beauty of Cyclades, emphasized the importance of the promotion of Greek tourism as well as Greek tourist destinations, and noted how popular they are among Austrians.
During the event local Governors from the Cyclades gave greeting speeches. The event was surrounded by traditional Greek cuisine and music. More than 500,000 Austrians visit Greece every year, placing the small country of 8.4 million inhabitants at the top of the world list for tourist arrivals in Greece relative to its population.
